FAMILY FIRST HOMECARE SPONSORS “BRAIN EDUCATION FOR SUCCESSFUL AGING” PROGRAM
Family First HomeCare sponsored a “Brain Education for Successful Aging” program at Spring Meadows in Summit on September 9, 2014.
Greg Quinn was the speaker and we had an enormous turn out from the Community residents.
The residents participated and were able to relax and refresh their minds and learn exercises to improve physical strength and flexibility.
We participated by providing free blood pressure screenings to members of the community.

FAMILY FIRST HOMECARE AND SHOPRITE PROVIDE FREE BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS
Family First HomeCare is pleased to have participated in the Health and Wellness Day at ShopRite of Greater Morristown on Saturday, March 29, 2014.
We participated by providing free blood pressure screenings to members of the community.
FAMILY FIRST HOMECARE ON PANEL OF SENIOR CARE EXPERTS
On March 26, 2014, Robert Petroro, President of Family First HomeCare, was a member of a panel of senior care experts hosted by the Livingston Senior Community.
The panel discussed and answered questions caregivers and family members had regarding caring for senior loved ones.
In addition to Robert Petroro, the esteemed panel consisted of Lucille Deutsch, Geriatric Care Manager; Gregg Frank, President and Owner of Back Home Safely; Laurie A. Hauptman, Esq., Elder Law and Special Needs Attorney; Jennifer Barbieri, Memory Care Coordinator at CareOne at Livingston.
FAMILY FIRST HOMECARE PARTICIPATES IN THE MORRIS COUNTY ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE FOR THE SECOND YEAR!
On Saturday, March 15, members of the Family First HomeCare team and their families participated in the Morris County St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
This was our second year in the parade and we were lucky again as the weather was in the 50’s and sunny! This pararde is the largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in New Jersey.
Thousands of people were in attendance. We proudly drove the decorated Family First HomeCare car and walked beside it, handing out candy to happy children along the parade route!

AN EVENING DEDICATED TO HEALTH — FEATURING SUZANNE BANFIELD, Ph.D.
Family First HomeCare and Troy Hills Center co-sponsored an evening dedicted to heart health on Wednesday, February 19, 2014.They were thrilled to have Suzanne Banfield, Ph.D. as the guest speaker.
Suzanne Banfield, is a heart disease survivor as well as an author, food scientist and, above all, heart health advocate.
She spoke about heart-healthy eating and the approach of focusing on all the delicious foods you love instead of those you have to shun.
All attendees enjoyed a scruptious dinner featuring recipes from Suzanne’s heart healthy cookbook “WomenHeart’s All Heart Family Cookbook”.

FREE BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS GIVEN BY FAMILY FIRST HOMECARE AND SHOPRITE
On Saturday, January 11th, Family First HomeCare and ShopRite of Greater Morristown sponsored free blood pressure screenings for the public.
Blood pressure is one of the four main vital signs routinely monitored by medical professionals and healthcare providers, and it can be a useful indicator of a variety of conditions.
There was a wonderful turnout for the screening, and both Family First HomeCare and ShopRite were happy to provide this free service to our community!

FAMILY FIRST HOMECARE HONORS VETERANS
On Monday, November 11, 2013, in honor of Veteran’s Day, we gave out Healthy Bags of goodies to the local veterans at the 3401 Watnong Post in Morris Plains.
More than 90% of the veterans in attendance served in the Vietnam War.
It was an honor to speak with them and tell them how grateful we are for all that they have done for us. They are an incredible group of people.

FAMILY FIRST HOMECARE THROWS BIRTHDAY BASH FOR 107 YEAR OLD CLIENT!
We are thrilled to have celebrated the 107th birthday of our long-time client, Elsie Diemer!
Elsie, along with her family and 80 other residents of Westfield Senior Housing, enjoyed colorful cupcakes, coffee and balloons in honor of her special birthday!

FAMILY FIRST HOMECARE’ S JILL PETRORO SPEAKS AT LIVINGSTON COMMUNITY CENTER
On June 26, 2013, Jill Petroro spoke at the Livingston Community Center on “Basic Estate Planning: Wills, Livings and Powers of Attorney” as part of a lecture series sponsored by the Senior, Youth and Liesure Services Department.
Many seniors were in attendance in spite of the extreme heat that day. The attendees were very interactive, asking many questions on this important topic.

Family First HomeCare and CareOne at Morris co-sponsored an event at the Caldwell Senior Center on Wednesday, June 19, 2013.
Julian Hernandez entertained the seniors with his singing of many popular songs.
Everyone participated in the raffle, enjoyed refreshments and had a great time!

FAMILY FIRST HOMECARE PARTICIPATES IN THE MORRISTOWN ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE
On Saturday, March 9, we were thrilled to participate in the Morristown St. Patrick’s Day Parade with the Family First HomeCare car decked out in green balloons!
It was a snowy day on Friday, but by Saturday it was warm and sunny!
Thousands of people attended the parade and Family First HomeCare was proud to march with war veterans, police officers, bag pipers, roller derby teams and so many more!

FAMILY FIRST HOMECARE AND SPRING MEADOWS SUMMIT TO OFFER FREE SCREENINGS AT SHOP RITE OF SPRINGFIELD
In support of American Heart Month, Family First HomeCare, LLC, and Spring Meadows Summit areteaming up to offer free blood pressure and glucose screenings on February 22, 2013 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at ShopRite of Springfield, 727 Morris Tpke., Springfield.
February is American Heart Month, bringing awareness to the nationwide problem of heart disease. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and high blood pressure and diabetes are among the risk factors associated with heart disease.
Join Spring Meadows and Family First HomeCare at ShopRite for these important screenings. This event is free and open to the public.

On November 29, 2012, Family First HomeCare and CareOne of Morris teamed up to raise awareness and promote better health for Diabetes Awareness Month.
The event was held at ShopRite of Parsippany, and offered free blood pressure and glucose screenings to the general public.
Many shoppers stopped to meet with the nurses and other members of both organizations. The event was a great success!

2012 Walk to End Alzheimer’s Northern Regional – Paramus, NJ
For the 4th year in a row, Family First HomeCare is walking in theAlzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s. We’d be thrilled to have you join our team! The event is on Sunday, October 28. Registration is at 9:00 a.m. and the walk starts at 10:00 a.m. at Van Saun Park, 216 Forest Ave, Paramus.

Roxbury Senior Center Talk
On Monday, October 22nd at Roxbury/Rockaway Senior Center. Barbara Perkalis, Family First HomeCare will be speaking on “Fall Prevention” and Anne Vivino, TransOptions of Morris County will be speaking on “Senior Pedestrian Safety”.

Family First HomeCare and TransOptions Team Up to Provide Safety Tips to Seniors
On October 3, 2012, Barbara Perkalis, Community Liaison with Family First HomeCare and Judy Bortman of TransOptions presented to members of Morristown Senior Center.
There was a wonderful turnout in spite of the heavy rains on Wednesday.Judy. Bortman’s discussion on Pedestrian Safety Tips for Seniors and Barbara Perkalis’ presentation on Fall Prevention was well received by the members of the Center.
In addition, the Family First HomeCare nurse offered blood pressure and glucose screenings to the attendees.

Family First HomeCare’s free Blood Pressure Screening at the Morris Plains Farmer’s Market was a huge success!
Despite a record-breaking heat wave, over 40 members of the community came out and participated, including Morris Plains Mayor Frank J. Druetzler.
FREE BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING: Family First HomeCare will be offering free blood pressure screenings, as well as nutritional information, on July 7, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Morris Plains Farmer’s Market.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and high blood pressure and diabetes are among the risk factors associated with heart disease.
The Morris Plains Farmer’s Market will host this event, parking will be located across from the Plaza Diner on Speedwell Ave.
